One system replaces many and enhances mobility
Category: SCADA, MES & IIoT | Customer: LCS
In brief
At LCS, we have implemented Ignition to develop a multifunctional system that serves as an HMI (Human Machine Interface), SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition), and MES (Manufacturing Execution System).
This system enables LCS to effectively manage their washing services and provides operators with the ability to quickly identify and resolve issues, even with the 65-meter-long washing machines.
About LCS
LCS, a leading player in the washing machine industry, specializes in offering a wide range of washing services. This includes the provision of high-quality machines, labor, planning, reporting, and maintenance, with a strong focus on efficiency and quality for their customers.
The challenge at LCS
Additionally, LCS was looking for a uniform system that would meet the current needs of Royal FloraHolland and could also serve as a pilot project for future expansions to other clients. Usability and accessibility were crucial for the new system.

A customized solution
To meet the requirements, an integrated solution was developed using the Ignition platform. This system combines HMI, SCADA, and MES functionalities into a single central hub for all operational activities.
Users can log in via a role-based dropdown navigation, making it easy to find specific functions. A key feature of the solution is the mobile application, which allows operators to move around the production floor and resolve issues directly.
LCS also captures important data, such as the number of washed products per machine, per day, per shift, and even every 10 minutes. This information is essential for billing and provides valuable insights for planning, allowing LCS to compare the washed quantities with the planned production. This data is reported directly to Royal FloraHolland, enhancing transparency.
By centralizing various systems, such as WinCC, Excel, and planning software, Ignition reduces waiting times and increases efficiency. The process is now continuously available for both management and customers, unlike the previous manual updates that occurred weekly.
Named “LCS Logic,” AT-Automation has developed a system that not only supports LCS’s current operational needs but also lays the groundwork for future expansions. Future plans include centralizing the MES layer on a central server in a data center, with local servers for HMI and SCADA at each washing service location. This ensures redundant backups, which are essential for uninterrupted production. LCS plans to roll out LCS Logic across Europe and further expand their solutions to better serve their customers.
